Hey Steve,
Great post, I just caught up on your last couple updates. At the beginning of July I flew out to Alberta to visit an uncle who manages a fly shop in Calgary. I got to spend a week fly fishing out west including a weekend up in the mountains catching cutthroat and rainbows on dries. I also got to float the Bow twice and did some poking around some of Calgary's spring creeks. Still have to get around to starting a blog post about it, I'll start that soon. Meanwhile I still have a month off so I plan to visit local creeks and hopefully the credit watershed a couple times. The Credit is such an amazing fishery, I've only briefly wet a line in one of its tribs before but I really dread to think of the impact on it from the MNR. There really aren't any resident brown trout fisheries like it in the area and for the MNR to go and ruin it for everyone and the younger generation that won't ever get to see it in its original state, is a huge mistake. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get one of these huge wild credit browns before it's too late. Something definitely needs to be done, the hopeless atlantic salmon stocking is bad enough without the MNR further destroying the fishery by removing mature resident browns. I hope to get to read more of your blog posts and see the photos.
Tight lines,
Liam

Hi PR, I don't do much navigating when fishing past dark. It's best to pick a spot with a nice big pool and stay put. I only do this where I know the water well. I believe headlamps will spook fish yes, so it's best to keep it off while fishing and shine it away from the pool while changing flies, etc. That said, I've shined a headlamp directly on a pool and caught fish shortly after a few times - but best to up your odds and avoid that :)

Great to read your post! Always makes me want to go fishing too. I've not done evening/night fishing much because of work/kids..but living -15-20 min from upper Credit or the Grand & Eramosa there is no excuse. What do you do for lighting to navigate trails? Do headlamps spook the fish?
